Bombers

I was on MC yesterday. Why? The regular combo: flu, sore throat, slight fever. That explains why I am in no mood at all to do work today plus that I had to look for the information which is really hard to get. I just couldn’t strain my eyes looking for write ups / specs on the Mercedes AMGs. As I was having my lunch, I had a glimpse on the newspaper read by the person across my table. It reads Born in Britain, with Pakistani Origin, or so was described for one of the bombers responsible in the London bombing. I don’t need to read the news to guess that it will be a picture of an Arab-like man, slightly faded (as if it’s hard for the intelligence to find his pictures) and telling about his life and his affiliations with Al-Qaeda. But while I imagine that my country is under oppression, and there’s nothing that I can do plus the fact that my leader is playing it diplomatically (not to resolve the problem but to sooth the heart of the people by acting as if he was doing something) and going through King Cross tubes with bomb strapped to my less almost no hair chest, I heard another bomber doing what a bomber does best : bombing!
These are the few lines that I managed to capture:
Lady A : I pun tak paham la why he is like that one, that’s why everybody had problem with him
Lady B : ooo, really?
Lady A : His way of work is… weird!…why does he do things the hard way? And this is not the first time this had happened!
Lady B : Yeah, I couldn’t understand it myself
Lady A : You know, it was like this the time when I first joint this place. Everybody’s leaving because it seems that many tak tahan lagi with his attitude…
We tend to blow our work place and that’s a true statement. Just for us to get upset and angry and at the end of the resulting us to retaliate to all the things that the management tries to do which resulted low productivity which resulted our boss to not be impress with us which resulted the boss treating us not so good compared to other which resulted us, bitching back at him and the circle goes like that every day until we leave the organization. Been there, done that, seeing it being done again and again.
The thing is, when we do things like this, it’ll disrupt the peace and all the positivity (if there’s such word) that’s installed in not only our head, but listeners. Worst, people will start to label the guy, and when labelling occurred, it’s there to stay and waiting for it to be proven right. We tend to believe that other companies are better. Heh! I thought Perodua is a good company until I learn that they too had major issues, NAZA? I really believed that they were one of the best companies… (no comment), Proton, Golden Hope, PNB, PWC or what ever company there is out there, they have issues of their own. Maybe not the whole of the organization but portions of it (portions where normally you are in, unfortunately). So what if your boss had an affair with his secretary? Or the manager keep taking names out of others effort and not acknowledge them? Weird decisions made by the management? Let them worry about that, we just worry our KRAs / KRIs and pointing that the boss is wrong doesn’t fall under it (maybe if you’re internal audit).
So just make the best of what you can. Like my Group Operating Director told me, take it as an opportunity for you to learn. We’ve given you computers, software, projects and on top of that we pay you to learn through your salary! Improve yourself. See the best out of every situation.
OK. Enough ayat2 kerja yang semangat! Ehehehe… the bottom line is, just work and don’t bother about the office / management because the position you hold can be taken back by the ones that gave you but the one thing they cant take is your knowledge and career you build while working.
* A friend of mine here taught me 1 simple rule : ”Mau kirja ka tamau kirja? Kalo mau kasi bikin la, kalo tamau kasi berenti laa…”
