Couch potato...

I had another lazy weekend. Basketball was cancelled because UM is having orientation and , I was supposed to go to Melaka for a kenduri. I was planning to go with my in-laws and 2 days ago my mom-in-law said that we’ll most probably go sta around 12 because he wanted my bro-in-law to go for his tae-kwan-do class. Suddenly we got a phone call and said that they are leaving at 9.30 which left me and my wife having to rush things just to be there in time and just to know that they’d left…without us of course. I was pissed. I mean you can’t set something up and then expect us to be all ready and have no other plans other than to cater your plans… right? can’t even wait for several minutes for the sake of human relationship or even father – son / daughter relationship??!! my wife was pissed + sad… so we decided not to go to Melaka at all (they message us to go by ourselves), and went to Sg Wang, do some shopping (the only way my wife can sooth her feelings which is why I am scared to make her angry cause angry = money out) while I get us 3 DVDs. It was Mr and Mrs Smith, Hostage, and Initial D adding to the number of DVDs that I had no time watching.

After that, we went straight back home and start watching Mr and Mrs Smith while glutting on the left over meatball pizza (oh, it’s good…the pizza I mean). Many reviews give it 8/10 and above but I think this movie is a little below expectations. At least mine. The storyline was weak and quite typical I would say but the dialogues are creative and brilliant. The selling factor of this movie is of course world wide guy craze #1 Angelina Jolie and world wide gurls / guys* (heh!) craze #1 Brad Pitt. They look real good together and for a guy that concern about celebrity less than level of concern for hungry cats, I’d wish that their gossips are true. Bottom line, they look at marriage conflicts at a more extreme and dangerous way.

I thought I had enough, went for solat Zohor and before that, I put in Constantine. Hoping to look quarter of it, and continue the rest later. But after Zohor, I got hooked. Not that the story is great or anything, but I just had to finish what I’d started. The story is ok, less typical of a God messenger’s movie where John Constantine is a man that keep the balance checked between the devils and angels and will eliminate any side that disrupts the balance. However, he is a heavy smoker and has maximum 1 year to live, and hates God. So he is a bright candidate to go to hell… as bright as the hell’s flame that is (though doing God’s job). The review says 2 thumbs up! But I think it was over rated. It started slow, less action than expected, too much rules that needed to be understood on why certain things are like that but nice visuals and effects. Some said that this movie will make you rosak Akidah and what not but to me, no! It’s just a movie which eventually the character, are characters that we only know in the Quran / bible. And if you at it religiously, trust me, not only the Muslims will confuse, but the Christians will be confuse either.

I hadn’t got the chance to watch Initail D yet. Many say it’s boring and all but me, having the collection from book 1 – 19 ( I wonder why they stop production at 19 while the Japanese Mange had till episode 32 I think), it is just something that I must watch… it was 6.15 when Constantine finished and the we were on our way to my parents to pick up my beloved daughter and have dinner (oh my mum’s ever tasty and yummy dishes again)…

* No, I am not one of those that worshipped Brat (maybe now, because he knows how to get to hottie like Jolie…)
